I’d say these days I’m squarely in the “everything is the
same/everything is different” season of life. Meaning that on a day-to-day
basis, things are fairly the same: we go to work, we play with Luca, we make
dinner, we hang out. But also, in those day-to-day things, so much is changing:
Luca knows that three comes after two and he can point out the letters E and O.
For weeks every color was green but then this week, he started throwing orange
in there too. We’re framing photos and ordering prints and slowly, slowly, the
small things are making their way to big things.
So maybe with this new project this taking stock thing will
be more of a weekly occurrence…a small glimpse into how things change and stay
the same all at once. Anyway, on to it:
Cooking: Guys. I've never been a particular fan of chicken salad--I don't think I even had it until I went to college--but I decided to try this avocado version and really, if you have a slow cooker, go make it. It’s so so good.
Drinking:
Watermelon-flavored seltzer
Reading: I
recently finished Modern
Lovers and A
Window Opens and I would totally recommend both. Now, I’m getting back
to that list I made so many months go and trying to get through My Antonia.
Making: Or
rather, planning to make these spinach-banana muffins with the 5 going-bad
bananas on my counter
Wanting: Sleep.
All the sleep.
Looking: Forward
to our trip to Cape Cod next week!
Deciding: What
exactly to bring with us for this trip. I feel like I should be making lists or doing some other productive thing but eh.
Wondering: What’s
going to happen on the next episode of Homeland—John and I just started
watching it.
Wishing: That a
manicure would last more than 5 days. I don’t go regularly by any means, but
lately, whenever I do, I just feel like I’m wasting money. Pedicures on the
other hand…
Enjoying: The
fact that I started working out 2-3 mornings a week and I’m actually sticking
to it. First time in awhile, guys.
Watching: Homeland,
but also the last season of Party of Five. I have such a soft spot for 90’s
dramas.
Hoping: For good
weather next week
Knowing: That I
can spend the majority of next week on the beach has me happier than all the
work I have to get done before then.
Thinking: About
what I’m going to write about for the next 98 days.
Following: The Revisionist History podcast. I’m listening
to them out of order and I’ve got a few more to go, but so far I absolutely
loved The Lady Vanishes.
Needing: To find
some twin-size sheets, for the house rental. There are four twin beds and we’ve
only tracked down two pairs of sheets.
Marveling: At how
much more Luca is talking these days. One of my close friends told me that
around the 21-month mark their language just explodes and that’s totally been
the case for Luca. He’s repeating more and overall trying/wanting to express himself so much.
Loving: The fact
that summer means evening walks around the neighborhood, mostly to the park
Sorting: Through
so much laundry. Why is there always so much laundry?
Snacking: On these amazing chips.
I randomly got them yesterday and the bag is half-gone today.
Bookmarking: The
book Present Over Perfect.
Lately the idea of slowing down and simplifying appeals to me so much, which is
so funny because I used to be the total and complete opposite.
Feeling: Tired.
Happy. Worn out. Excited.
Hooray for Cape Cod! Just finished my second post, too! 98 to go.
